Bring the plan.
Bring the right questions.

• Confirm which life stage and circumstances the recipe supports.Note species, age and whether your pet is healthy, growing, pregnant, nursing, on medication or following a prescribed diet. Ask your vet which formulation is appropriate.
• Bring the complete written recipe.Include ingredient names, daily quantities and whether the amounts are raw, cooked or dry. A list of food names without quantities is not enough for a recipe review.
• Bring the supplement product labels.Include the full composition, product name and proposed amount. Ask whether the actual products and food together match the plan; a generic multivitamin may not.
• Include treats, toppers and other food.List what your pet actually eats during the day, including commercial food, chews, table food and food used with medication.
• Gather recent weights and feeding observations.Record dates and amounts rather than relying only on memory. Bring questions about appetite or other changes to your veterinary team; the checklist does not interpret symptoms.
• Ask about preparation, substitutions and follow-up.Confirm the cooking and storage instructions, what happens if an ingredient is unavailable and when the recipe should be reviewed again.
• Check what needs an in-person assessment. If your pet is unwell, needs weight loss or has a diagnosed condition, ask the clinician how to proceed. For urgent signs, contact a local vet promptly.
